Garden Consultancy
We can help you design your project
We know plants. We grow thousands of grasses and flowering perennials at Knoll. We also tend thousands more, together with a wonderful array of trees and shrubs, ensuring our show garden is at its best every day of the year.

This practical, horticultural knowledge, together with years of hands-on experience make us ideally placed to advise on planting and design.

Personal advice from a passionate plantsman
Knoll’s owner Neil Lucas is now being called upon more and more to bring his renowned naturalistic planting style to a range of private and public projects.

Internationally acclaimed as the UK’s leading ornamental grass expert, and the holder of ten consecutive Chelsea Gold Medals, Neil’s love of woody plants and his extensive horticultural career is perhaps less well known. This takes in private and public projects as diverse as NHS hospitals, private gardens, zoos, stately homes and public parks. His expertise and accumulated knowledge is now available to help you create a stunning planting scheme, plan a border, or even landscape a new build.

As a hands-on gardener Neil is not a garden designer. What he brings to every project is pure horticultural knowledge and a close affinity with nature.

From reclaiming out of control plots, to reducing overall maintenance, creating drifts of colour to coping with ‘difficult areas’, there is a plant suitable for every location. Neil’s expertise will help you to put the right plant in the right place for spectacular effect, bringing Knoll’s year-round ‘wow factor’ directly into your own garden.

Neil frequently advises by email, with many projects successfully completed this way. However, a site visit is usually preferable, providing the perfect opportunity to discuss your plot and your plants face-to-face with a truly passionate plantsman.

Neil Lucas offers garden consultancy and design advice for £45 per half hour, which also applied to travel time if required. Email mrgrass@knollgardens.co.uk to find out more, or call the nursery on
01202 873931.

Garden Design
Both private and commercial landscape projects may well require the services of a qualified landscape designer. They are trained in every aspect of garden design, including hard landscaping. If you have a project of this nature we recommend you approach a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers to be confident of getting the best service and expertise.
